Press Release from AZBAA, AZ Business Aviation Association
Members of the business aviation community are coming together to gather relief supplies and utilize corporate aircraft to deliver them where they are desperately needed.
Corporations and Private Individuals are offering space on their aircraft to carry relief supplies to the areas of NY and NJ hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. A corporation has generously donated their corporate jet to fly supplies to the storm weathered Northeast U.S. The aircraft is planned to depart Cutter Aviation at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Wednesday November 7th at 8:30am loaded with supplies to benefit those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Everything from baby formula to socks and blankets are being gathered by Business Aviation Professionals at centralized locations (see locations below). Canned foods and higher weight items are discouraged due to aircraft weight limits. These much needed supplies are then loaded onto corporate aircraft which are flying into airports throughout NY/NJ, picked up by volunteers, and delivered to shelters throughout the region. The AZBAA (Arizona Business Aviation Association) is currently looking for corporations and individuals to donate space on their aircraft already headed to the Northeast for the transport of emergency supplies.
The AZBAA® is an organization of over 300 members of the Arizona Business Aviation community, consisting of but not limited to pilots, flight attendants, maintenance personnel, aircraft manufacturers, corporate flight departments, charter/management companies, aircraft insurance and sales companies, and FBO’s (fixed based operators). A major goal of this organization is to be more in-tune to what is going on at the local level, and therefore, have the opportunity and resources to act in a more efficient and effective manner. “We saw the available resource and felt a duty to assist those affected by this tragedy,” said Arizona Business Aviation Association President Ken Casey. “Members of our own community are impacted by this event, and the passionate individuals within Business Aviation are always at the ready when called to act.”
Business Aviation employs 1.2 million professionals and contributes $150 Billion annually to the US economy, including over 10,000 jobs & about $900 million in primary economic activity here in Arizona.
